Compliance

Compliance

EMA Ship conducts all ship management and advisory activities in full compliance with international maritime regulations, flag state requirements, and industry best practices.

Our compliance framework is built to protect asset value, ensure operational continuity, and minimize regulatory, safety, and reputational risks for shipowners and investors.

We operate in accordance with, but not limited to:

  • • ISM Code – Safety Management and operational risk control
  • • ISPS Code – Ship and port facility security
  • • MLC 2006 – Seafarer welfare, contracts, and working conditions
  • • SOLAS – Safety of life at sea
  • • MARPOL – Environmental protection and pollution prevention
  • • STCW – Crew certification, training, and competency standards
  • • Flag State and Class requirements
  • • Port State Control (PSC) regimes
  • • Vetting standards including RightShip and SIRE 2.0

Compliance Governance

Compliance is managed through a structured governance model involving technical management, crewing, HSEQ, and senior management oversight. Clear responsibilities, documented procedures, and regular internal reviews ensure consistency across the fleet.

Audits and Inspections

  • • Internal ISM and MLC audits
  • • Flag state and class audits
  • • PSC readiness assessments
  • • Vetting preparation and gap analysis (RightShip, SIRE 2.0)
  • • Pre-inspection planning and follow-up

Training and Awareness

EMA Ship places strong emphasis on crew and shore staff compliance awareness. Mandatory and role-based training programs are implemented to ensure readiness for inspections, audits, and daily operations.

Zero-Tolerance Approach

  • • Non-compliance with safety or environmental regulations
  • • Fraudulent documentation or misrepresentation
  • • Breaches of ethical, legal, or professional standards

Continuous Improvement

Compliance is treated as a dynamic process. Lessons learned from inspections, audits, incidents, and near-misses are systematically reviewed and integrated into procedures, training, and operational planning.
